Food and Drinks Industry

Food and drink industry:

When it comes to food and drinks Industry it is important to pay close attention to the hygiene, durability and conformity. Seals can be used in a lot of ways. For the food and drink industry they need to have a high degree of purity and make it to the hygiene standards.

When filling beverages it is important to avoid aroma transfer. The sealing materials need to be able to withstand aggressive cleaning materials and fabrics. There are legal requirements the sealing must adhere:

EU (VO) 1935/2004

American FDA $ 177.2600

Chinese GB 4806

GB 9685

Hygienic Design Standards (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group)

The EHEDG needs to make sore the seal is free from dead space and prevent contamination.

Specially made mixed like, 70 EPDM 291 or Fluoroprene are relevant. This is because they withstand the temperature alterations and aggressive media. The newest designs have the most innovative products, because of these designs they can be used in a wide range of applications. An example of this is the Radiamatic® HTS II. This is a reliable sealing that does not have dead space even under extreme applications.

Food and drink industry:

We have various certificates or approvals for the food and drink Industry. These certificates/approvals are there for the safety of humans or animals and for the legislation. These certificates and approvals are checked on the basis of various requirements. Here are the two most important.

  • Accredited Third Party Certification.
  • Sanitary Transportation Rule.
  • Intentional Adulteration Rule.
  • Complying with FSMA.

In addition to FDA, there is also a European certificate/approval called EC1935/2004. The EC1935/2004 has been in existence since 1 April 2009 and is monitored by, among others, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).

FDA and EC1935/2004 are the most important Food and Drink Industry certificates/approvals. The O-rings are therefore extensively tested for migration and extraction, among other things.
